Meet Ilona Thomas, RN

Ilona Thomas is from Latvia in Eastern Europe and has been sharing her skill and the secrets of European skin care traditions with Central Ohio since 2006. Ilona Thomas has over 10 years experience in the beauty industry, gained, by working with cosmetic’s tycoons such as Lancôme, Chanel, Mac, Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Macy’s. In addition she has worked in the cosmetic field assisting with medi-spa services, cosmetic injectables and laser procedures. Now Ilona provides advanced skin care protocols blending her knowledge of skin anatomy, dermal structure,cytology and of botanicals for optimal results and customer satisfaction. Her skill set includes treatments such as microdermabrasion, chemical peeling and acne relief, endermologie, micro-current.

Every treatment provided includes a blend of European esthetic tradition that originated in Switzerland in 1946 of the 20th Century and Japanese ancient facial massage techniques, for an experience, that promotes stress relief and relaxation. Ilona takes time to listen to concerns and educate each and every client on improving their skin health, by modifying their daily regimens and habits. IIona is fascinated by bath house traditions of ancient Rome, Russian Banya, Temples of Venus and makeup and waxing traditions of Ancient Egypt. Drawn to healing traditions of ancient India Shirodara, her personal favorite, uses healing through ayurvedic wisdom. She has traveled extensively to increase her knowledge and experience; studying aesthetic practices of women and men of different origins in Greece, France, Spain, England, Denmark, and Russia.

Skin and aesthetics have been a passion of Ilona’s since she was very young. At age 11 she was drawn to herbal applications of Latvia and northern Europe. Women passed on generational knowledge and practice of herbal pharmacopia, she learned the practice from her grandmother Tekla Lazdane (1925-2013) gather herbs and botanicals for the “winter pharmacy.” “My grandmother taught me about botanical efficacy and timing, she used to say, while pointing at leaves of plants or berries: “This will relieve cough, this you can add to your hair rinse, this will aid as a skin remedy for scrapes and bruising…”All plants were picked before summer solstice usually 23rd of June, and at certain hour of the day, as plants were believed to have the most potency and reach their full bloom prior to that time, and the results were amazing, that taught me how powerful healing forces of nature can be.”
